Thanks for your brilliant analysis…this will prove most useful through the year…”

I loved the “2008 Investment Roadmap! What I particularly like is that you not only pinpoint the key trends in the market to focus on, but also note what to watch to know when these are changing. Fantastic!

What is the 2008 Investment Outlook and how can it help me trade/invest?

As an offshoot of writing Portfolio Strategy Letter monthly since 1992, I have found it very useful to review the major secular themes in the markets and do an in-depth analysis of the macro environment in the first quarter of every year as preparation for the trading year. Focusing on the major themes and understanding the big picture has been critical in profiting from market action for many years. The “2008 Investment Roadmap” is such an analysis for the year 2008 – and it is precisely the research and analysis I have done for my own benefit that MRG has used to compile and put together the “2008 Investment Roadmap.”

The “2008 Investment Roadmap” (at over 60 information-packed pages) goes into the macro environment in much more depth than I could do even in a 20+ page issue of PSL. It is a “Roadmap” for traders/investors, and not just a set of predictions or an expected outlook, because it attempts to highlight what needs to be monitored for the outlook to change or shift. In this way, investors can use the roadmap all year long to tell them whether a theme or a “baseline scenario” is still in force, whether it is threatened by clearly outlined market action, or whether it has completely shifted by changes in the environment – and what each of these would mean for profitable trading.

I believe that used with PSL’s each month, the “2008 Investment Roadmap” can be an invaluable tool for allowing investors and traders to understand what is happening in the global market environment, determine what is critical to watch to note for changes, and know how to adapt as the plurality of signals unfold during the year. A focus on major themes also allows for investors/traders to remember the big picture and try to focus their efforts and trades on areas that have the tide behind them, and are not just a minor wave of a trend - something that is critical to do in order to achieve investment home-runs, whether you are a short-term trader or long-term investor.

I have long thought that understanding the environment, knowing what the major secular movements are, and knowing what to monitor to be able to “read” the markets verdict and majority opinion are among the most critical skills for an investor/trader to master, and I have tried to help MRG put together a “roadmap” that incorporates all of these critical forms of analysis into one document. I therefore hope and trust that you will find it, along with updates of it for PSL subscribers, to be exceptionally beneficial to your trading and investing.
